We have no idea why some people reach the age of 70,80,90 or beyond while others die young, my mother survived the Halifax Explosion ( the largest man-made explosion on earth until the Atomic bomb was dropped,) her brother and a cousin in the house, very near the explosion, died, when the house collapsed. My mother and others walked the streets for days in one of the biggest snowstorms to ever hit Halifax, following the explosion, I survived the second Halifax explosion when the Naval Magazine blew up in 1944, our house had a little damage, then imitating my father and his army cohorts, I up and drank a quart beer bottle that my mother had filled with turpentine, I survived with a few external scars, but my digestive system wasn't harmed! My point is that survival until 70 years of age is a lot of luck and some living right! By living right, I mean following some of the laws of nature, by exercising, trying to eat properly, and laughing, mostly laughing! I have come close to death many times by accident, but it's always almost!!!! So far!

a beginning life
A baby starts to crawl or walk, we watch so they don't pull anything harmful onto themselves, we watch for them to fall, and catch them just in time, we start telling them no, don't touch that, be careful, we put up gates, we lock lower cupboards, we let them go as far as possible without major injury. If we catch them in time, if they listen to us, they survive. Luck is involved, when they fall, they get back up again, but if they should hit their head on the corner of something sharp, they could be badly injured. I have made it to seventy years of age, with all kinds of bruises and minor injuries, but I haven't been hit by a car yet, my heart did stop once, but luckily, I was already in the hospital and had an IV already in my arm to receive the blood clotting drugs. Reaching seventy is wonderful, then eighty would be great, ninety would be nifty, then 100 years would be phenominal. I've defied the laws of gravity many times, jumping out of airplanes, flying many hours in crazy weather over the ocean, and driving an autombile for fifty-five years. A lot of luck, a lot of safety harnesses, and taking into consideration, the law of gravity in every pursuit in life. Only one of nature's laws.

At seventy
I 'm seventy years old and think I have seen it all, been there, done that, I have never felt the need for a mainstream religion, but have felt (something), at the top of a mountain, in the middle of the ocean, or deep in the woods. Have you ever been deep in the woods , stood in a spot and thought that maybe, you are the first human being to stand right there, and enjoy the immediate beauty surrounding you? The basis of this blog is that if we, mankind, follow the laws of nature and what would seem to be natural rules in life, that we could acheive the most happiness, while on this earth? Gravity is the first law of nature that comes to mind, if we try to defy it, without a safety harness, we usually will suffer an injury. Of course, mankind defies gravity continually, but we give a lot of thought to the process, before we attempt the defiance. Thinking ahead is only natural!
